Eagle Scout Honored at Eureka Board Meeting

A new Eagle Scout from Eureka was recognized by city board of aldermen, city staffers and community representatives at Tuesday's meeting for "leading by example."

Jacob Jennemann of Eureka recently finished 69 merit badges, went on four summer camps, hiked 68 miles collectively, served as an archery instructor, and camped for a total of 98 days and 72 nights. Oh, and, he became an Eagle Scout—the highest achievement rank that can be achieved by a Boy Scout.

Jennemann was honored with a proclamation at Eureka's board of aldermen meeting Tuesday night.

He earned the Eagle Scout designation while with Troop 322, which is sponsored by the Eureka United Methodist Church. However, he will be helping to start the new Boy Scout Troop 922, which will be sponsored by St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Eureka. Their first troop meeting will be Thursday evening.

Jennemann became the 54th Scout in Troop 322 to earn the Eagle rank in the past six decades.

A part of his experience and service also included being a troop guide, a den chief and an assistant patrol leader. He has received national youth leader training, too.

He attends LaSalle Springs Middle School in Wildwood, where he has perfect attendance and is on the honor roll.

For his required Eagle-related special project, Jennemann built houses for wolves at the Endangered Wolf Center in Eureka.
