America's Hidden Heart - Revealed

To say I’m psyched about this weekend’s book event – well, that would be VERY true.  I love to travel, so after reading an article about Missouri author, John Drake Robinson’s travel book, A Road Trip into America's Hidden Heart, and tuning into his blog, I had to ask him if he would come to Eureka and do a book tasting.  I like the sound of it, book tasting.  I feel like books are right up there with chocolate.  And I wouldn’t ever pass up an invitation to a chocolate tasting.  Would you?

I was pleasantly surprised when John agreed to come and hang out with us at Maria Joseph Books.  John grew up in Rolla and, as he puts it, “has been in this neck of the woods a lot.” He’s spent a lot of time along the Henry Shaw Corridor; at the Wild Bird Sanctuary, the Endangered Wolf Center, on the Meramec River, and of course, Six Flags.  Much of his familiarity with this area is due to the fact he grew up near here, but it also has to do with the fact that he was the Missouri state tourism director from 2002 to 2006. He ended up driving every mile of every road on Missouri's highway map, a project he completed a couple of years ago when he drove the last road on his map.

I can’t wait to meet John and hear about his travels and bend his ear about blogging.  And I hope you will take a few minutes out of your busy Saturday to slow down enough to enjoy this opportunity to chat with John.  He’s your neighbor after all.
