ReplyI agree with Will. Why this guy is still getting press time is odd to me. Really...KSDK thinks this will help their ratings during sweeps? I would turn the channel. I would also question the assertion that Akin"steered" the renaming of the Post Office. I would think that type of bill is quite common and requires little "steering".

ReplyAnother comment I would like to make is this: Cheers to Julie for apparently breaking this story! The comments above, the discourse between us, is all happening because this story went public. All of the comments have given me pause and are food for thought.
In the end, this is about our kids. But it is also about our schools long-term and that means deciding how we want our leaders to act. I am always more trusting when leaders act in an open public way. We don't have that now...but we can demand it. If we are tough now, we will end up with a leadership team that knows we demand open doors and community input. I am sick of reading about back door deals and self-serving decisions made at our schools expense.
My vote on the current board members is finalized. My vote on Prop S is a work in progress but this thread will help me make the most informed decision I can muster.

ReplySteve...I agree with you that it will delay improvements. Hence the struggle with my vote. But I disagree somewhat that it is not a referendum on the board. I think it is somewhat and I think I am not the only voter to look at it that way. In an ideal world, we could vote for the board now and Prop S in November.

Reply@Artie...you use the phrase "considering the attacks that began from day one". And why would that be? In my opinion, the "attacks" as you define them were purely defensive. Remember, one of Dr. Borchers first moves was to bring on friends from his old school district at ridiculous pay and called them consultants. It left a bad taste in my mouth and it was never adequately addressed. When we hire someone for a quarter million dollars to SERVE our district, we rightfully expect more.

ReplyWow. This is big news Julie. Will we know before the April vote. I am still struggling with how to vote on Prop S. I want to support the district. On the other hand, I feel voting yes on Prop S is akin to saying that the current board and superintendent have done a great job. I would vote No just to negate that thought. If Dr. Borchers left and current board members were voted out my vote would be an easy YES.

ReplyJulie. I appreciate the police report sections you provide. I like to see if there are break-ins and such happening in the area around our house. But I do question publishing the names of streets on which a suicide attempt has occurred. It would not take much to put two and two together, an ambulance at a neighbors house for instance, for neighbors to know about this very personal event about another neighbor. Just food for thought.

ReplyJulie, thanks for this article. I am really not sure how I will vote on Prop S. If I vote no, it will not be because I don't think the district needs it. It will be in protest for what I see as arrogance on the board's and superintendent's part. Regarding the extension of the Supt's contract just prior to the release of the audit findings. The vote was 4-3. Can you tell us who voted for and against the Supt's extension?

I look at this as a cheap and low way to get readers. Hopefully Patch isn't going to go the way of the Enquirer.
