New Rockwood Board of Education Officers Selected

A new president and vice president were voted on by Rockwood School District's board of education directors at Thursday's evening meeting.

Rockwood School District's board of education will be led by two new officers, after the group's former president resigned last month. Janet Strate became president and Matt Doell became vice president at the board's Thursday meeting at Crestview Middle School in Ellisville. Citing some people's concerns about his employment with Glenn Construction—the company that has provided program management services for the district's bond issue projects—Steve Smith stepped away from leading the group but said he intends to complete his board term. Smith previously served on the Rockwood board of education from 1989 to 1995. He was appointed in 2003 to fill Judy Dungan's position until a 2004 election. Rockwood School District's Board of Education Reorganizes

Eureka resident who was voted as board president says the group faces a number of future issues that will challenge them but that he is eager for the committee to work as a whole.

Three new directors for Rockwood School District's board of education were sworn in at Thursday night's board meeting:  Keith Kinder, Steve Smith and Matt Doell. "None of us have power unless we're together," said Smith, of Eureka, to fellow Rockwood directors in some of his first words as the group's newly elected president. Other board officers elected by the group were Janet Strate, vice president; Shirley Broz, treasurer; and Kathy Chitwood, secretary. April 5 Final Election Results: Rockwood School District's Board of Education

Winners from the 2011 Rockwood Board of Education election are: Keith Kinder, Stephen Smith and Matt Doell.

Six candidates competed for three available seats on Rockwood School District's board of education. According to the final tabulations for the evening of April 5, but unofficial results, from the St. Louis County Election Commissioners, the three winning candidates were Keith Kinder, of Ballwin; Stephen Smith, of Eureka; and Matt Doell, of Eureka. Keith Kinder received 7,068 votes, or 24.41 percent. Matt Doell received 5,761, or 19.89 percent. Stephen Smith received 5,095 votes, or 17.59 percent. Mike Geller received 4,811 votes, or 16.61 percent. Roger Stock received 3,329 votes, or 11.50 percent. Kevin Mabie received 2,790 votes, or 9.63 percent. Write-in candidates accounted for 106 votes, or 0.37 percent. Smith already was serving on …
