Six Flags Announces New Boomerang Rollercoaster for 2013 Season

Six Flags managers promised to add something new for each season. On Thursday at 6:30 a.m., the coaster capital of Missouri—Six Flags St. Louis—unleashed news about Boomerang. A media call with Six Flags' CEO occurs later this morning.

Next year, Six Flags St. Louis visitors will be greeted by a new, vividly bright orange and electrifying lime green steel monster: Boomerang. Standing at 125-feet tall, this gravity-defying, nerve-racking, stomach-crunching steel roller coaster will rocket riders through a combination of thrill sensations unlike any other coaster experience at the park, Six Flags officials announced Thursday morning. Boomerang first will pull 28 riders backward, slowly up to the top of the 125-foot tall lift hill. After a brief pause, it’ll release them into complete mayhem, hurtling them along 1,650-feet of twisted steel track at speeds up to 50 miles per hour, Six Flags managers promise. This is just an old rollercaoster they brought over from Texas. It is far from new, it opened in 1998. Once again Six Flags St Louis gets the shaft while Magic Mountain and Great America seem to get atleast 1 or 2 new BIG rides every year. Last big ride we got was in 2000 with the Boss. Way to cut corners as always Six Flags, then have the audacity to market it as a new ride.   more ›
