This weekend, a Wildwood restaurant turns loose its chef to create homemade Irish dishes for a local St. Patrick's Day celebration.
Stephanie Mulholland, owner of Big Chief Roadhouse restaurant in Wildwood, hopes diners are in the mood to get into an Irish spirit this weekend. In fact, she said her staff has deep-cleaned and re-opened the outside patio area in preparation of the special St. Patrick's Day festivities they have planned. Big Chief will be serving one-pound fish and clips, with coleslaw, on Friday for $10.95. During this weekend, they also will have more Irish fare, such as shepherd's pie, smoked corned beef and cabbage, Irish stew, smoked pastami Reuben sandwiches and regular corned beef. It's been customer appreciation month at Indigo Joe's Restaurant in Wildwood. Have you tried the new "IJ's the Greek" yet?
In celebration of the fifth anniversary of Indigo Joe's Restaurant in Wildwood, the IJ's Wildwood staff is serving fresh oysters from Delaware today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday). The restaurant-sports-bar at 16721 Main Street in Wildwood has 20 beers on tap, and 33 big-screen TVs from which to watch lots of games. In addition, they typically host a Kentucky Derby watching each year with local horse enthusiasts. As part of the anniversary, live music also is scheduled Saturday from Yukon Jake from 9 p.m. to midnight. Rich Cannon and his band will be in the house to entertain. A new concept was announced regarding this historic dining spot to be revived by its new owner.
Ready for a new tasting place and wine bar? Bethany Mehard, new owner of a historic, vacated restaurant—The Pond Inn—in Wildwood announced via new signage what her vision of the upcoming gathering spot will be. The buildings are located at 17250 Manchester Road and the intersection of Pond Road. The outdoor patio and bar area for this new restaurant in Wildwood is coming along, given this winter's mild weather.
A 3,200-square-foot patio, complete with an outdoor bar, was planned as part of the new Llywelyn’s Pub opening in Wildwood. Wildwood director of planning and parks Joe Vujnich said a portion of the new Llywelyn's outdoor area will be constructed and devoted to being a "pocket park." A "coming soon" sign went up prior to New Year's at the new restaurant location in Wildwood. But it's a couple of other proposed signs that caught the attention of city leaders.
A public hearing was held by Wildwood's Planning and Zoning commissioners on Dec. 17 regarding the request from Llywelyn's Pub managers to erect four different business signs for their upcoming restaurant at 2490 Taylor Road. The hearing was conducted at Wildwood City Hall. Brett Bennett, Llywelyn's proprietor, requested modifications to the city's C-8 Planned Commercial District No. 1001, which authorizes only two signs on buildings for businesses. Bennett also wanted to erect signs facing the east side of Taylor Road and the north side of Manchester Road. One of Wildwood's historic restaurants has a new owner who says she will restore the location to its former glory.
One historic restaurant—The Pond Inn—has sat vacant in Wildwood at 17250 Manchester Road and the intersection of Pond Road for several years now. But it will be vacant no more in the future, as noted at Wildwood's city council meeting on Monday. Signs of refurbishing there were noticed by several Wildwoodians lately. Activity at the location is a welcomed sight. The property once operated as an inn and restaurant, but closed some years ago due to a fire. Bethany Mehard and her husband, William, purchased a home in Wildwood this January. She also purchased the Pond Inn property, indicating she hopes to reopen it in early April as a restaurant bearing its former name, Pond Inn. A Llywelyn's Pub under way in Wildwood Town Center gained approval to serve liquor Tuesday evening. Now the opening is expected in early February.
A public hearing was conducted at Tuesday night's Wildwood city council meeting regarding granting permission to the owners of Llywelyn's Pub to serve liquor by the drink. Dierberg’s shopping plaza in Wildwood is slated to offer a new restaurant, touting an Irish-American menu, by the beginning of January.
Llywelyn’s Pub will be opening in Wildwood, according to the restaurant's Facebook page. The newest location will be in Wildwood Town Center/Dierberg’s shopping plaza. The Wildwood location will join five other pubs within the regional franchise located in the Central West End, Soulard, St. Charles, Webster Groves and O’Fallon, MO. There is also a franchise in Kansas City. The newest Llywelyn’s will offer 6,400 square feet of space to kick back with a pint of beer and play darts, or enjoy pub fare with family and friends, according to Sauce Magazine.
