Wildwood Home Struck by Lightning

All residents safely evacuated the house Thursday morning.

At approximately 6:45 a.m. Thursday, Metro West Fire Protection District firefighters were called to a report of a lightning strike that started a house fire at 1602 Wolf Trail Road in Wildwood.  The first fire crews on the scene found smoke showing from the roof of a house, said Metro West's Coordinator Michael Thiemann. Monarch Fire Protection District responded to a house fire in Wildwood at the 1500 block of Misty Valley Court Saturday evening just after 9 p.m. It and its contents were completely lost. No human injuries were reported; the family's pets are missing.

Monarch Fire Protection District firefighters responded to a house fire in the 1500 block of Misty Valley Court in Wildwood Saturday evening just after 9 p.m. The fire was called in by the homeowner’s alarm company and by a neighbor who went to investigate the sounding of the alarm. Upon arrival, fire crews found the building "substantially involved" in flames. Monarch's fire Marshal Roger Herin, MCP, said the fire went to two alarms. "Nine minutes after their arrival, firefighters evacuated the building due to the possibility of collapse." The rear portion of the house collapsed shortly after the firefighters evacuated. The house was built using lightweight engineered lumber, said Herin. "This is a case where good training and clear …
