This local chamber of commerce leader now also will assist with statewide economic-related initiatives in Missouri.
Chamber of Commerce Executives of Missouri (CCEM) members elected new officers for 2013, and one local leader was among them. West St. Louis County Chamber of Commerce President Lori Kelling will serve as a director. She starts a three-year term with CCEM in January. West St. Louis County Chamber of Commerce has serviced the communities of Ballwin, Clarkson Valley, Ellisville, Manchester, Twin Oaks, Valley Park, Wildwood and Winchester for more than 50 years. The state chamber organization is organized to strengthen chamber management through professional growth and development opportunities. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Thursday at Wildwood Vision Specialists in Towne Center off Missouri Route 100 by West St. Louis County Chamber of Commerce members.
Among the businesses operating from Wildwood's Fountain Place area is a new one that delivers comprehensive ocular health care: Wildwood Vision Specialists. Their grand opening on Thursday was celebrated with refreshments, snacks, a trunk show and discounted prices on glasses. They also held a drawing to give away a pair of sunglasses. Wildwood Vision Specialists' doctors Kim Folwarski and Christy Hayes have both had more than a year of post-graduation work experience, and a combined six years of experience working in clinics throughout St. Louis and the United States. Wildwood, Ellisville and Ballwin city representatives, along with West St. Louis County Chamber of Commerce and Missouri Department of Transportation managers are putting ideas into motion for Manchester Road corridor.
There's 40 percent more retail space than the market will support along Manchester Road within a declining economy, former Ellisville mayor Matt Pirrello told approximately 100 luncheon attendees at Wednesday's monthly meeting of the West St. Louis County Chamber of Commerce at The Wildwood Hotel. "There are too many other (shopping and service) alternatives, and we need to improve the access, management and safety of the entire Manchester corridor," he said. The improvement plan was deemed the "Great Streets Initiative." West St. Louis County Chamber of Commerce members have a summer intern from Piacenza, a small city in northern Italy.

Pricolo is a 19-year-old college student studying economics and management at Bocconi University in Milan, Italy. His internship was arranged through Cultural Homestay International. Nearly 30 fellow business peers met at the new Chimi's Fresh Mex restaurant in Wildwood on Thursday morning to officially christened its location and to welcome the staff to the community through a West St. Louis County Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting ceremony. Chimi's opened Jan. 17. It is located at 17209 New College Ave. in Wildwood, near the Wildwood Family Y and St. Louis Community College-Wildwood.
