Wildwood Hotel Under New Ownership

The Wildwood Hotel received new owners as of Feb. 21. It is no longer a bank-owned entity, but will remain an independent operation.

The Wildwood Hotel's General Manager Beth Bigelow said the staff is proud to be the newest boutique hotel under the ownership of Hotelco, a U.S.-based business. She said Hotelco owns other properties in Hawaii and Colorado, such as Stay Waikiki in Honolulu, HI; Eagle Lodge and Suites in Eagle, CO; and Savannah Suites in Westminster, CO. "All of us are dedicated to continue to offer the finest lodging, meeting and event facilities in the area," said Bigelow. She said the local staff looks forward to the positive aspects the new owners will bring, such as getting the hotel's restaurant operating. Great Streets Initiative Equals Great Possibilities, Says Committee

Wildwood, Ellisville and Ballwin city representatives, along with West St. Louis County Chamber of Commerce and Missouri Department of Transportation managers are putting ideas into motion for Manchester Road corridor.

There's 40 percent more retail space than the market will support along Manchester Road within a declining economy, former Ellisville mayor Matt Pirrello told approximately 100 luncheon attendees at Wednesday's monthly meeting of the West St. Louis County Chamber of Commerce at The Wildwood Hotel. "There are too many other (shopping and service) alternatives, and we need to improve the access, management and safety of the entire Manchester corridor," he said. The improvement plan was deemed the "Great Streets Initiative." Authorities have worked on the Manchester Road plan since 2009, but a website that reveals detailed schematics and timelines is about to be unveiled, said Pirrello, who nows serves as Ellisville councilmember of Ward 1. …

Wildwood City Hall Takes Shape

Construction of the new Wildwood City Hall on the western edge of Town Center is progressing in a very noticeable manner now. Have you been by there lately?

For anyone going to a B&B Theatres Wildwood 10 movie or staying at The Wildwood Hotel, it is hard not to notice the new construction occurring between these two landmarks in the western corner of Town Center at the address for Wildwood's new City Hall:  16860 Main St. Last fall, Wildwood city council members awarded a $5.9 million contract to K&S Associates to build a new city hall and police facility on city-owned property there. K&S Associates presented the lowest bid for the project among 10 responding contractors. The new facility was approved by voters during April 2010, after residents from each of the city's wards served on a volunteer City Hall Steering Committee and after a series of public forums were held about the project to …

Wildwood Hotel Welcomes Pets

Speak to Wildwood Hotel representative at the Patch Pet Party in Wildwood Town Center between 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Monday for the Halloween pet parade and contest. Win trophies and prizes -- lots of pet-related giveaways, treats and candy for humans!

Visiting pets have a pet-friendly place to stay in Wildwood. The Wildwood Hotel in the city's Town Center welcomes dogs and cats as guests. Rachel Duewer, director of sales at the hotel, said they enjoy being a pet-friendly hotel. Pet owners can ask about special pet packages that may be available for providing bowls, dishes and treats. Duewer, who personally has a Dachshund, will be one of the resources onhand at Monday night's Patch Pet Party for Halloween in Wildwood Town Center -- a free, pet-centric Halloween costume parade, contest and chance to talk to pet experts.
