Legends Golf Country Club Owners Say They "Won't Have a Fire Sale"

Numerous, potential buyers recently have been interested in The Country Club at The Legends, but family owners say they want to sell to someone who will respect the golf course and give them a fair price.

Various, potential buyers have been interested in seeing the Country Club at The Legends at 625 the Legends Parkway, Legends Club Manager Patti Natoli told Patch. However 70 percent are "simply curious," she said. "Positive things are possible, and we've had the fourth or fifth meetings with a few of the potential buyers. But we're not willing to sell it to the first person who simply offers money," said Natoli. "We're looking for someone who will respect the course and maintain it the way my father would want it. It's going OK, about as we expected." Obviously the club can not operate at a profit as a private club....the only option is for the club to be semi private...Ms Natoli has asked that the indenture for a private club be waived....this needs to be resolved at the next meeting, which I think is 4/16. There is a group called Walters Golf Mgt that owns/manages over 17 golf courses in the area and knows how to run a golf course at a …   more ›

Fox Run Ranks 8th in Golf Digest's List of Top Missouri Courses

The magazine released its annual ranking of the top 100 courses nationwide. Six area courses rank in Golf Digest's Missouri Top 10. One is from Eureka.

Fox Run Golf Club in Eureka ranked No. 8 on Golf Digest's list of the top Missouri courses—a list that includes five other St. Louis-area courses in the top 10.  Fox Run did not make Golf Digest's ranking of the top 100 courses nationwide. The St. Louis Business Journal noted the rankings are important to local course owners. The newspaper quoted Josh Riley, executive director of Gateway PGA, saying the rankings help draw players and "validate their facilities" to build membership at private clubs. "It’s a huge deal if it's for a public course from a marketing standpoint," Riley told the Business Journal. Laughable to compare St. Albans, two nationally ranked golf courses to a Legends. St. Albans is a member owned club whose members recapitalized it when it was neccesary 5 years ago and is now probably one of the strongest in the Midwest. The Legends was doomed from the day it opened and will never work no matter who owns it because it simply doesn't have the membership that would pay the six to …   more ›

no conrest here. St Albans is clearly the best but also the most difficult to get to play since it is private and very expensive. It is really a beautiful course and kept in great shape.   more ›
