Eureka Student Only Rockwood Recipient of UMSL Science Award

Thirty-five Missouri high schoolers received a Distinguished Achievement Award for Excellence in Science at the third annual ceremony hosted by University of Missouri–St. Louis. See who represented Rockwood School District.

Thirty-five Missouri high schoolers received a Distinguished Achievement Award for Excellence in Science at the third annual ceremony held Feb. 12 in the Millennium Student Center on University of Missouri-St. Louis' North Campus. Eureka High School junior Chester Montefering was one of those recipients. The students were chosen by their respective high schools, based on good grades and demonstrations of outstanding capabilities in the sciences, according to a UMSL spokesperson. Students, in addition to their parents and teachers, were treated to dinner and a piano performance by UMSL Chancellor and jazz aficionado Tom George. Guests heard former Sen. Budding Scientist Receives Excellence Award

One Wildwood resident who is a Eureka High schooler recently was bestowed with a Distinguished Achievement in Science Award from the University of Missouri-St. Louis

Christopher Colletti, a junior student of Eureka High School, was honored at the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) College of Arts and Sciences Distinguished Achievement Award for Excellence in Science ceremony on Feb. 21, along with 36 other area high school juniors. Colletti was nominated for this distinction by Eureka High science teacher Bill McIlwee. Criteria for the award included a grade assessment, extracurricular involvement, and a demonstration of outstanding capabilities in the sciences.   The awards evening included: Parker's speech was entitled “Managing Diseases in the World’s Wild Places.”  She has led a team of evolutionary biologists, veterinarians and parasitologists from five countries to monitor the arrival of new…
