Rockwood Security: Is It Enough?

Rockwood School District officials say safety remains the top priority, but some parents would like to know more about options that could involve community volunteers. The district is set to host the next Safe Schools Partnership meeting Jan. 31.

Rockwood School District Superintendent Bruce Borchers recently blogged that principals and school leaders met on Jan. 2, before students returned to school from winter break, to focus on school safety. "I want to assure you keeping our students and staff safe is always our first priority. While we have taken a number of steps to provide a safe and secure environment, we will never stop looking at what we can do to be even better," he said. Safety for everyone in the district should come first. I commend Rockwood School District for having a Safe Schools Partnership meeting on January 31st. I hope alot will come out of this meeting to move the district forward in making a difference with the new effective safety procedures while the Law enforcements are in charge of the changes.
