Readers' Choice 2012: Where’s the Best Sushi in the Area?

It’s not just raw fish and rice. And we need you, our readers, to tell us who is the best at making this traditional Japanese dish in the St. Louis metro area.

Type “Sushi restaurants in St. Louis” on Google Maps and you will get more than 400 results. This Japanese delicacy traces its roots to the Fourth Century B.C. in Southeast Asia, when fish was stored with rice for preservation purposes, according to Sushi-Master.com, a website that specializes in Sushi. Centuries later, many sushi eateries have made their way across the United States and St. Louis. Although price varies from restaurant to restaurant, sushi is considered by many as a fine dish, sometimes associated with business meetings or such other occasions. At Patch, however, we are not interested in fancy reviews. We want our readers’ opinions, which we value more than anything. So tell us, in our comments section, where is your …

We need our readers’ help to find the best bakery in the St. Louis metropolitan area. Is there a place that makes croissants like no other? or perhaps scones or cupcakes? Nominate your absolute favorite bakery for our 2012 Readers’ Choice awards. All you have to do is comment on this story to nominate a bakery. Don't forget to tell us why you picked the place! Readers' Choice 2012: Who Serves the Best Toasted Ravioli?

This is a truly authentic St. Louis dish, but who serves the best in the St. Louis metropolitan area? We need your help finding out.

Nothing is as unique to St. Louis cuisine as its toasted ravioli. A New York Times article from the '80s credits a restaurant on The Hill, St. Louis’ historic Italian neighborhood, with the invention of this unique dish, which, the article says, happened by accident when ravioli was accidentally dropped into a frier. Today, nearly every bar and Americana-style restaurant in St. Louis serves toasted ravioli accompanied by hearty marinara sauce. There is too much toasted ravioli served out there for us at Patch to sample it all — although we’d love to try. So we are asking you, our readers, to help us find the place that has the hands-down best toasted ravioli in the St. Louis metropolitan area.  To make your nomination, simply leave the …

Readers' Choice 2012: Who Has the Best St. Louis-Style Pizza?

Squares everywhere! Help us find the best St. Louis-style pizza in the St. Louis metropolitan area.

Thin, crispy, square and with lots of Provel cheese. St. Louis-style pizza may not be as famed as New York’s or Chicago’s, but hey, at least we have our own. In a town with hundreds of pizza parlors, however, it can be difficult to find the best St. Louis-style pizza in the area. So we are asking you, our readers, to give us a hand and tell us your favorite place to have a square of pizza in the St. Louis metropolitan area. All you have to do is go to the comments section of this story and tell us the name of your favorite St. Louis-style pizza vendor. Please don't forget to tell us why you favor the place you nominated!  Nominations can be made from today until July 9. Voting will begin thereafter. Make sure to tell all your friends and …

Readers' Choice 2012: What’s Your Favorite Beer Garden?

St. Louis is a beer town, but we need our readers to tell us where to find the best beer garden in the area.

The history of beer in St. Louis can be traced back to the 1800s, when the famous Lemp family started the first local brewery, according to Explore St. Louis. Early German and Irish settlers helped build a city that centers around its beer. From Anheuser Busch in Soulard to Schlafy Bottleworks in Maplewood, St. Louis has dozens of breweries and microbreweries constantly producing different beer creations for us, lucky over-21 St. Louisans, to try. Beer gardens offer customers an opportunity to experience a variety of flavors, textures and alcohol contents of different beers. But we want the opinion of our readers, who we considered our most important experts, to tell us their favorite place to have a cold one. So get on the comments …

Readers' Choice 2012: Where is the Best Pulled Pork Sandwich?

Help the Patch team find the best pulled pork in the St. Louis metropolitan area.

Slowed cooked, tender and saucy. St. Louis knows barbeque, especially pulled pork sandwiches—a fixture in many bars and restaurants in the area. Pulled pork, usually a pork shoulder cut, is smoked for hours, then pulled apart and mixed with barbeque sauce. It seems simple, yet many claim to have the best in town. We need our readers’ help to find out who serves the most delicious pulled pork sandwich in the St. Louis metropolitan area. Just write your place of choice in the comments section of this story — and don't forget to tell us why! Nominations can be made from today until July 9. Voting will begin thereafter. Make sure to tell all your friends and family to participate.

Readers' Choice 2012: Who Has the Best Biscuits and Gravy?

Breakfast is not complete without this staple of the American breakfast. Help us find who serves it better in the St. Louis Metropolitan area.

OK, we all know the best biscuits and gravy are the ones your grandma made. At Patch, however, we want you, our readers, to help us find the best biscuits and gravy in town. A simple dish, biscuits smothered in gravy can be a sensitive topic to some St. Louisans. A gravy that’s too runny or a biscuit that’s too dry can make us madder than a Pujols transfer or Becky’s carpet closing. So now we turn to you, our beloved lover of biscuits and gravy, to tell us what place in the St. Louis metro area serves it best.  Write your nomination in the comments section of this story. Nominations can be made from today until July 9. Voting will begin thereafter. Make sure to tell all your friends and family to participate.
