A winner in the Democratic Party primary was declared using unofficial results a day after voters went to the polls.
After battling three other candidates in the Republican primary election for Missouri's 2nd Congressional District, Ann Wagner has won the nomination by an overwhelming vote. Wagner, a Ballwin resident, and her campaign team hosted a primary watch event at the Hilton Frontenac Tuesday evening. More than 100 supporters, friends and family members attended the party in high spirits. "We're a grassroots organization, a people-oriented campaign," Wagner said. "I will be in Washington, not of it." Wagner served as a Republican committeewoman in Lafayette Township and then became chair of the Missouri Republican Party. Following her service as co-chair of the Republican National Committee, she was nominated by former President George W. Bush as …

LETTER TO EDITOR: Dr. Christopher Carpenter explains why Dr. Randy Jotte is his choice for Missouri’s 2nd Congressional District. As a fellow emergency room doctor, Carpenter also explains alarming routine occurrences in healthcare.
Two weeks ago, the Supreme Court rendered a decision in support of the Affordable Care Act, but to secure reliably accessible, high quality healthcare for all citizens, the devil is in the details. Fortunately, St. Louis voters from U.S. House Missouri District 2 have the unique opportunity to shape the future of American healthcare this election season. How? Dr. Randy Jotte, a St. Louis native and Emergency Physician is running for the congressional seat on a bipartisan platform of constructive and pragmatic healthcare reform. Dr. Jotte’s perspectives and ideas are a reflection of his lifetime commitment to vulnerable patients in the constant challenge that is emergency medicine (www.randyjotte.com). Physician in Missouri's Second Congressional District faces an uphill climb in the race to succeed Rep. Todd Akin from Wildwood.
The clock is ticking. With just under a month before voters go to the polls to decide the fate of primary campaigns up and down the ballot, time is running out to march in parades, shake hands and kiss babies. Ann Wagner, the Ballwin Republican who has been campaigning for the GOP nomination in Missouri's 2nd Congressional district for more than a year, has recently put her second campaign advertisement on television. And that battle has now been joined. Dr. Randy Jotte, the former Webster Groves councilman and current emergency room physician who entered the race in January, launched his own advertising on cable this month, trying to introduce himself as the primary campaign heads into its closing stretch. Wagner or Jotte will face one of…

In a recent email to Washington, DC, lobbyists, a fundraising worker for the campaign left out the fact that the Wagner has a little GOP competition in the race for the 2nd District seat for Congress.
According to her primary opponent, Randy Jotte, it seems Ann Wagner's campaign forgot she has an opponent in the primary—an oversight the campaign acknowledged, blaming a fundraising worker in Washington, DC. Jotte, of Webster Groves, forwarded Patch a Feb. 8 email from one of Wagner's campaign team members regarding Wagner's upcoming visit to Washington, D.C. The email reads in part: I wanted to see if you are available to help Ann Wagner out on her next trip to DC – we have a few events as well as 1-1 coffee times available. Her primary opponent got out of the race last month and along with her excellent fundraising numbers from last quarter has put Ann in a great spot to win this seat for MO-02. She has over $1 million cash on hand and …

The former presidential candidate Mike Huckabee said Thursday night that Congressional-hopeful Ann Wagner comes from "a family that has lived the values we talk about." The 2nd Congressional district includes Wildwood.
Former Gov. Mike Huckabee tapped core conservative issues in his endorsement of Congressional candidate and Ballwin resident Ann Wagner on Thursday, rallying supporters in advance of Republican primaries in August. In a speech that touched on issues ranging from the cost of gasoline to the curricula of public schools, Huckabee praised Wagner’s political and personal life. “This is a family that has lived the values we talk about,” Huckabee said. “If you can manage a household, if you can manage a small business, if you can serve in capacities as she has … you have a really good understanding of the full-scope of America.” Huckabee said the endorsement was likely to be one of less than a dozen Congressional races nationwide that the former …

Ed Martin's decision to challenge Chris Koster in a bid for Missouri Attorney General leaves Ann Wagner with one less GOP primary opponent this summer for the 2nd Congressional district, which includes Wildwood and Eureka.
Two days after Randy Jotte, a Webster Groves doctor, made the 2nd Congressional district Republican primary a three-candidate race, the contest is back down to two in the running. Thursday morning, St. Louis attorney Ed Martin announced he would drop out of the GOP primary for Congress and instead challenge Chris Koster to become the state's top lawyer. Feeding off of his near-victory against Rep. Russ Carnahan (D-St. Louis) in 2010, Martin had support in his bid to succeed Rep. Todd Akin (R-Wildwood), but has lagged considerably in fundraising compared to Ballwin resident and former RNC co-chair Ann Wagner, who has also lined up endorsements from national Republican figures, including John Ashcroft, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and …
