POLICE LOG: Eureka Police Department officers worked the following situations between Nov. 12-18.
The following incidences recently were handled by Eureka Police Department officers: Police checked out a suspicious person getting into cars at Legends Bluffs Court on Nov. 12. A purse was stolen from a residents' room at Price Memorial Nursing Home, 300 West North St., on Nov. 12. An attempted larceny occurred at PNC Bank, 15 Augustine Road, during which the ATM was damaged on Nov. 12. An automated teller machine that dispenses cash was damaged around midnight Monday at the PNC Bank located off Augustine Road in Eureka. Police hope residents will relay any clues or details about this attempted robbery.
About 1/2 mile from the Eureka Police Department was an attempted robbery at a PNC Bank at 15 Augustine Road, sometime between 11:45 p.m. Monday and 12:15 a.m. Tuesday. Eureka police Sgt. Jason Randell said a thief or thieves reached around the side of the ATM to spray a black paint over the video camera system and other machine compartments before trying to pry open the machine. Randell said the paint cans and a sledge hammer were found in the immediate area of the bank, down the small hill that slopes into the nearby pool of water. "Someone tried to get into the machine, but couldn't, and we believe they fled on foot after the ATM alarm activated," Randell said. Wildwood residents and friend were granted one last, official summer fling on Friday night before school started Tuesday. There was plenty to celebrate at Wildwood's Town Center. The crowd was estimated to be more than 1,000 attendees. Representatives of the Children's Hospital BJC HealthCare fitted youths for bicycle helmets. The band Fanfare entertained music lovers of all ages.
