Onstage Teens Join Eureka Seniors for Lunch, Showtime

LARGE PHOTO GALLERY and VIDEOS: Eureka High School's singing and dancing performers put some pizzazz into a recent Eureka senior citizen's meal.

Singing for one's meal used to a traditional custom. Eureka High School Onstage performers did that and much more earlier this month at the senior citizen's lunch at the Eureka Community Center. Onstage is a Show Choir course offered at the high school for which students must audition and be selected. It is a performing, choreographed vocal ensemble for both genders. A total of 52 seniors attended the meal and interacted with the students before the performance. Onstage will be hosting a dinner show this Saturday, including a silent auction with more than 150 baskets available upon which to bid. It will be held at Eureka High School. One show will be held at 5 p.m. and the other at 8 p.m. Tickets are $16 each.  Dinner will be catered by …

OnStage! Clinic Prepares Youths (videos to enjoy)

Approximately 300 area youths spent Monday's holiday learning how to perform on stage at Eureka High School.

It took 75 pizzas and all of Eureka High School's 27 OnStage! members to train approximately 300 area youths who came from throughout the Eureka and Wildwood area and beyond, during their Martin Luther King Jr. holiday off from school, to attend the annual OnStage! performance clinic.  OnStage! is a group of both genders of Eureka High School students who combine choral signing with dance, often to tell a specific story or idea.  The group is directed by the school's music teacher, Donna Baker. She said this year attracted an unusually large number of participants. OnStage! members conduct this annual clinic as a fundraiser and to model show choir talents for up-and-coming performers.  Attendees from kindergarten through eighth grade …
