We got the sweet potato fries, too; really enjoyed the Cajun mayo that accompanied them. It was a great blend with the fries, but not overly spicy. Thanks.   more ›

Special Signage for Future Llywelyn's Pub in Wildwood Approved

A "coming soon" sign went up prior to New Year's at the new restaurant location in Wildwood. But it's a couple of other proposed signs that caught the attention of city leaders.

A public hearing was held by Wildwood's Planning and Zoning commissioners on Dec. 17 regarding the request from Llywelyn's Pub managers to erect four different business signs for their upcoming restaurant at 2490 Taylor Road. The hearing was conducted at Wildwood City Hall. Brett Bennett, Llywelyn's proprietor, requested modifications to the city's C-8 Planned Commercial District No. 1001, which authorizes only two signs on buildings for businesses. Bennett also wanted to erect signs facing the east side of Taylor Road and the north side of Manchester Road. As stated in the notification of this public hearing, the proposed size, height and mounting details of the additional signs did not meet the requirements of the underlying sign …

Let me finish the last sentence...To add language which heightens concern when this was reviewed and recommended to keep consistent signage policies in place for commercial districts in Wildwood is not correct and paints a picture which was not true during the hearing and action.   more ›

We'd agree with the others - the service here was bad, food was so-so. Would much rather drive down the road a few minutes to get to Chimis.   more ›

Well said Eddie!! Don't let "Uncle Sams" ignorance bother you too much, he probably doesn't know any better. He proves it by using the word Americans, what, there are no central or south Americans? People in Canada don't live in North America? And you are correct, I have seen people at both restaurants that are of all different ethnicities, and if they are Hispanic, does that automatically mean …   more ›

SEE COMMENT FOR UPDATE: After working with the St. Louis County Department of Health inspector, the owners of Los Cabos are cleared to open their doors to hungry customers tonight (Monday) for the first time in Eureka.

Los Cabos Restaurant Coming to Eureka

A new Mexican family grill and cantina will open in Eureka in the former spot occupied by Fortel's Pizza Den.

Geographically speaking, translating "los cabos" from Spanish into English would be "the capes." The term can mean other things, such as "corporal," "rope," "bit or piece," "handle," or "place or position." One translation—"the tips"—seems to fit the best in the case of a new Mexican restaurant slated to open in Eureka. Curt Newsome secured the lease 54 Legends Plaza from the center for what will become Los Cabos Restaurant, according to city records. The space formerly was occupied by Fortel's Pizza Den. Patch has requested more details regarding the time period of the restaurant's opening. This week, the tables and chairs are being unpacked.
