Get Free Coffee for National Coffee Day 2012

Celebrate with free coffee, but not at Starbucks or McDonalds in Eureka and Wildwood. However, St. Louis area 7-Eleven stores offered free coffee Friday—will they extend it?

If the first words out of your mouth every morning are, “I’ll have a large coffee”—or if you can’t even speak until after you’ve had your java fix—there's a national holiday created especially for you. America will put staunch tea drinkers to shame on National Coffee Day on Sept. 29, when coffee fiends can rejoice and celebrate their beloved coffee bean with free brew from national chains. Coffee was first brought to America in the mid-1600s in a shipment en route to “New Amsterdam,” now known as New York, according to the National Coffee Association. Celebrate Coffee Today: Toasting Joy of Java

More than 150 million Americans drink coffee every day -- but perhaps more consumption of the beverage is occurring today, National Coffee Day.

The aroma coming from the coffee maker, a favorite cup waiting on the kitchen counter or a heat-retaining mug filled and ready to go. Drinking coffee is a ritual many people follow as regularly as brushing teeth. That fact can be saluted today, Sept. 29, by lifting a cup to National Coffee Day.  Whether plain, fancy, hot or cold, more than half of Americans ages 18 and older start their day with a sip of coffee. We even make jokes about the new terminology some of us learned to order our favorite drinks at Starbucks. Coffee merchants around the world appreciate our craving for a cup of Joe.
