Drury Baseball Player from Eureka Progresses after Skateboarding Accident

Michael Bigogno, a Drury University baseball player from Eureka, still is recovering post-surgery from head trauma received in a skateboarding accident on May 19 in Springfield, MO. Coach Mark Stratton provides updates.

Former Eureka High School baseball player, Michael Bigogno, has been moved to a transitional area in a Springfield, MO, hospital as part of his recovery from head trauma occurring from a skateboard accident last month. He received surgery 24 hours after the incident. Baseball Player Stabilizes After Skateboarding Accident

Michael Bigogno, a Drury University baseball player from Eureka, is recovering post-surgery from head trauma received in a skateboarding accident Saturday evening in Springfield. Coach Mark Stratton keeps us in touch.

Drury University baseball coach Mark Stratton promised to update the Eureka community this week about Michael Bigogno's condition after the baseball outfielder received surgery for head trauma suffered when he fell from a skateboard Saturday evening in Springfield, and he kept his word. See Patch article: Former Eureka Baseball Player Hospitalized Due to Skateboard Accident Stratton stated in an email to Patch that while Bigogno is still in critical condition, his temperature has stabilized and his skin color has "much improved." He said the pressure and swelling from the head trauma Bigogno experienced continues to decrease. Stratton asked for continued prayers.

Former Eureka Baseball Player Hospitalized Due to Skateboard Accident

A Drury University baseball player from Eureka was in critical condition at a Springfield hospital Sunday night, 24 hours after suffering serious head trauma in a skateboarding accident, as reported by the News-Leader.

Michael Bigogno, a 23-year-old outfielder from Eureka, underwent surgery after being rushed to the hospital, according to Drury University baseball coach Mark Stratton, per an article published Sunday by The Springfield News-Leader Bigogno was riding a skateboard just after 7 p.m. Saturday, according to the article. Stratton told the News-Leader reporter it appears the back of Bigogno's head struck a curb, causing what was termed “serious head trauma.” He stated Bigogno is in critical condition. Stratton stated in the article that Bigogno is not taking visitors but that his family from Eureka is present. He is the son of Gregg Bigogno and Sharon Beuer-Bigogno.
