Bagpipe Player Christens Llywelyn's Pub in Wildwood

VIDEO SAMPLE FROM THIS AFTERNOON: For Llywelyn's Pub's first St. Patrick's Day in Wildwood, it was only fitting to have bagpipe players this weekend. Catch the bagpipe player there again this evening at 6 p.m.

St. Patrick's Day revelers at Llywelyn's Pub in Wildwood were treated to real bagpipe tunes this weekend. Yesterday, a procession led by a bagpipe player wound its way through the new restaurant in Wildwood. At around 2 p.m. today (Sunday), a bagpipe player commanded the stage at the pub. We got the sweet potato fries, too; really enjoyed the Cajun mayo that accompanied them. It was a great blend with the fries, but not overly spicy. Thanks.   more ›

Llywelyn's Pub Construction Continues

The outdoor patio and bar area for this new restaurant in Wildwood is coming along, given this winter's mild weather.

A 3,200-square-foot patio, complete with an outdoor bar, was planned as part of the new Llywelyn’s Pub opening in Wildwood. Wildwood director of planning and parks Joe Vujnich said a portion of the new Llywelyn's outdoor area will be constructed and devoted to being a "pocket park." Click here to sign up for the free Eureka-Wildwood Patch morning newsletters to keep up with this restaurant and other area businesses. Vujnich said when Dierbergs originally developed at the current location, two areas were set aside as private pocket parks, but that open space was not required by the city at that time. "With the new restaurant needing space for an outdoor venue, a portion of this private park area could be converted for that use." Read …

Special Signage for Future Llywelyn's Pub in Wildwood Approved

A "coming soon" sign went up prior to New Year's at the new restaurant location in Wildwood. But it's a couple of other proposed signs that caught the attention of city leaders.

A public hearing was held by Wildwood's Planning and Zoning commissioners on Dec. 17 regarding the request from Llywelyn's Pub managers to erect four different business signs for their upcoming restaurant at 2490 Taylor Road. The hearing was conducted at Wildwood City Hall. Brett Bennett, Llywelyn's proprietor, requested modifications to the city's C-8 Planned Commercial District No. 1001, which authorizes only two signs on buildings for businesses. Bennett also wanted to erect signs facing the east side of Taylor Road and the north side of Manchester Road. As stated in the notification of this public hearing, the proposed size, height and mounting details of the additional signs did not meet the requirements of the underlying sign …

Let me finish the last sentence...To add language which heightens concern when this was reviewed and recommended to keep consistent signage policies in place for commercial districts in Wildwood is not correct and paints a picture which was not true during the hearing and action.   more ›
