Even in Winter, We Scream for Ice Cream

Is it ever too cold for ice cream, custard and frozen desserts? See what new offers local business owners are providing.

When the mercury falls below 32 degrees and the snow falls from the sky, the demand for ice cream dips a tad, as well. But, there are still plenty of people "screaming for ice cream," even in the winter months, according to four local vendors. Kevin and Elizabeth Garrett own the Cold Stone Creamery at 101 Plaza Dr. in Wildwood. Garrett said he sees sales drop off a little in the winter months, but there continues to be a regular demand for cakes, pies and take-home orders, especially during the holidays. "And we get our most passionate ice cream customers in the winter," Garrett said. "When it's 5 degrees outside and you have customers come in the door, they are the true ice cream lovers."
