Missouri Department of Transportation improvements in 2012 included major renovations and upgrades to some of the busiest, local roads near Wildwood and Eureka in Franklin and Jefferson Counties.
Last year, Missouri Department of Transportation crews made significant improvements to state roadways throughout Franklin and Jefferson Counties. Many of the projects had to do with improving overall safety. “We’ve made some extensive improvements to our interchanges along busy routes and replaced important bridges to help improve safety and traffic congestion for motorists' commutes," said Judy Wagner, MoDOT’s Area Engineer for Franklin and Jefferson Counties. Specific projects included: Wagner said more projects in 2013 will include widening Route 100 from Route 47 to High Street in Washington; resurfacing Route 141 from I-55 to Routes 61/67; and resurfacing Route A from I-55 to Routes 61/67 in Festus. “We will also be focusing on …

The Missouri Department of Transportation reports on St. Louis area work zones for July 19-25.
St. Louis area motorists should be prepared to slow down and plan for the many work zones that are scheduled over the next week. The Missouri Department of Transportation staff has 125 work zones scheduled on interstates and arterials throughout the region during the next several days. Friday, repairs to the Interstate 70 bridge over Earth City Expressway will impact traffic when two lanes and various ramps are closed. These repairs are part of MoDOT’s contract on the I-70 Blanchette Bridge. The two westbound lanes will close 7 p.m. Friday and reopen by 5 a.m. Monday. The westbound I-70 exit ramp to southbound Earth City Expressway and the ramp from northbound Earth City Expressway to westbound I-70 will also close during the repairs. …

Eureka and Wildwood drivers who head westward just over the St. Louis County border into Franklin County will face lane closures due to bridge work, starting Monday. Traffic delays are expected.
Missouri Department of Transportation crews will close all lanes on westbound Interstate 44 between the Gray Summit and Washington exits the night of Monday, July 9, from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., Tuesday, July 10. MoDOT crews will set bridge girders for the new Route 100 Bridge Replacement over I-44, which may affect Eureka and Wildwood motorists. Kara Price, MoDOT senior community relations specialist, announced Friday that following this interstate closure, MoDOT will close two various lanes in both directions of I-44 between the Gray Summit exit and Washington exit next week.
