Eureka Driver Injured on I-44, Other Driver Left Scene

A motorist who prompted a Eureka man to slow down on the southbound ramp of Interstate 270 to westbound Interstate 44 then left the scene of the accident.

A 22-year-old Eureka resident, Ryan Hinterleitner, was southbound on the Interstate 270 ramp heading toward westbound Interstate 44 Saturday morning when he told authorities he slowed down due to the vehicle ahead of him stopping. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol accident report, Hinterleitner's 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe then began to slide on the wet roadway. Hinterleitner's sports utility vehicle (SUV) slid into the rear of the vehicle in front of him at 8:24 a.m. Saturday. The unknown driver of the other vehicle quickly left the scene of the accident. Hinterleitner was taken to St. Clare Health Center by a Fenton Fire Protection District emergency crew for what what was deemed minor injuries. The SUV received extensive damage…

Man Indicted on DWI Manslaughter Charge in I-44 Crash

A truck driver was killed trying to avoid Matthew Snyders' car in the middle of I-44 after he hit a guardrail one mile west of Six Flags near Eureka.

Man Charged With Manslaughter in Truck Driver's Death

A Missouri Highway Patrol trooper said Matthew Snyders was drunk Sept. 27 when he had an accident on I-44 and left his car; a truck driver swerved to avoid the car, overturning his truck.

A man was charged with involuntary manslaughter after a drunk-driving accident on Interstate 44 near Eureka caused a truck driver to swerve and overturn. Eureka Driver's Car Totaled at I-44 and MO Route 141

A Eureka man was taken to the hospital after a two-vehicle accident early Sunday morning.

Two motorists were heading westbound on Interstate 44, west of Missouri Route 141, when one driver's car hit the back of the other at 1:20 a.m. Sunday, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report. Eureka resident William Cooper, 51, was traveling at a high rate of speed, according to authorities, when his 2011 Nissan Altima hit the back of the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Dennis Barnes, a 42-year-old resident of Catoosa, OK. Both vehicles exited I-44 to the left. Cooper's car went under the median cables and came to rest facing eastbound in the westbound lanes of the interstate, stated Trooper A.J. Michels. Two I-44 Accidents Occur Over Thanksgiving

Several people ended up in area hospitals.

Landon Kemp, a 28-year-old driver from Union was driving a 2002 Lincoln LS when his vehicle struck the rear of a 2002 Buick Rendevous being driven by 59-year-old Patricia Beggs on Interstate 44 at mile marker 247. Beggs and her passenger, Luther Woodham, 53, are from Waynesville, MO. The accident occurred at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Missouri State Highway Patrol reports indicate all three people were wearing safety belts, but all were taken to Mercy Hospital in Washington by a Meramec Ambulance crew for injuries that ranged from minor to serious.
