Blanketing People In Need With Warmth

Nearly 70 area youth donated their time to ensure that people who are homeless have a new way to weather the cold.

Approximately 70 area youths turned 204 yards of fleece into blankets of hope for those who are homeless. When Adam Mustoe, director of youth ministries at Living Word United Methodist Church in Wildwood, hosted a blanket-making session for students in grades 6 through 12 this month at the church, he said he didn't know how attendance would be, given that it was the fourth year to conduct such an event.  But Mustoe said it was inspiring to see how many students willingly gave their time in an effort to help strangers. He said the blankets made will be funneled through the AmeriCorps winter outreach program to a group of volunteers who take blankets to homeless people once the temperature in downtown St. Louis dips to 20 degrees or colder…
