Ask the Patch Pro: Seeking Local Techies

Patch is looking for experts who can talk electronics and share their expertise this week.

It's the season of giving and chances are, you probably have some fancy technology to cross off your holiday shopping lists. Patch wants to help find the answers to all your questions about Blue-ray players, iPads, smartphones and television sets, but we need a little help.  In the latest edition of "Ask the Patch Pro" we need local experts who can answer readers' questions and offer advice. Unique Gift Search Leads to 'Charming' Business

Looking for a unique Valentine's Day gift? Wildwood woman’s one-of-a-kind ideas catch on with customers.

Leslie Jones got frustrated looking for the perfect charms to represent her family. “I was looking for charms in the images of my children,” the Wildwood wife and mother of two recalled. “As I was unable to find such charms, I looked into creating the charms myself.” Her initial efforts worked out so well that Jones opened her own online store, Charming Silhouettes, where she’s been designing and selling unique charms, earrings and necklaces since 2010. Jones’ creations are one-of-a-kind. She begins by using computer graphics to create a silhouette or image from a customer’s photograph or drawing, then laser engraves the image onto a custom made hypo-allergenic stainless steel charm. New Store Opens for 'Kids at Heart'

This new Eureka business specializes in hard-to-find toys. The owner offers 50 percent off items from the entire store (excluding Hot Wheel cars) on the last Friday of every month.

Rows of Hot Wheels, glitzy Barbies, fuzzy Elmos and the Incredible Hulk are just a few of Lonnie Ledbetter’s stock in trade. The owner of a new Eureka store, Trey’s Toy Box, Ledbetter is a Dittmer, MO, native. He and his wife named the store after their son, Lonnie Ray, who is nicknamed Trey. “Cristin and I noticed that Trey had so many toys, you couldn't see the floor,” said Ledbetter. “This gave me the idea of selling some of the toys, and things just developed from there. These are hard-to-find toys—you just can't walk into Walmart and buy these collectors' items. After a TV show or a movie, the related toys sell well for a while. Elegant Petals floral shop specializes in maintaining flowers from any special occasion or memorial.

Elegant Petals, a new full-service floral and gift shop in Eureka, also is in the business of preserving memories from any special occasion.  Using a freeze drying procedure to preserve the flowers, the staff then encases the delicate petals in frames, shadow boxes, or table top displays. Kathy Williams, owner of Elegant Petals, said, "We want to create a design to help our clients recall good memories."
