Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation managers donated a Polaris Ranger 6X6 800 all-terrain vehicle (ATV) and trailer to the Monarch Fire Protection District. A dedication ceremony will take place at 2:30 p.m. Thursday (today) at Firehouse Subs, located at 1649 Clarkson Road in Chesterfield. A new eatery that opened Tuesday via a Wildwood couple in Chesterfield on Clarkson Road has a foundation that saves lives when you carry out a 5-gallon pickle bucket for $2. Firehouse Subs (in same shopping center as Trader Joes) hosts the Public Safety Foundation in conjunction with the sandwich shop started by two firemen brothers in Jacksonville, FL, in 1994. The Sorensen brothers launched the Firehouse Subs foundation in 2005 after feeding Hurricane Katrina rescue workers some 20,000 pounds of food and water, officials said. This new franchise spot in Chesterfield offers free drinks for firefighters anytime, showcases a customized mural of local landmarks, and has one of the Freestyle Coca-Cola machines that provide 120 combination beverages.
Owners of the new Firehouse Subs eatery opening Tuesday in Chesterfield took their fire theme seriously—the new restaurant is decorated with Monarch Fire Protection District photos and memorabilia. Furthermore, franchise owner Robert Phillips designed his locally-themed mural inside the shop to include a Monarch fire truck, as well as Busch Stadium, St. Louis Cardinal Ozzie Smith, and references to the Cardinals' World Series wins (a firehose blasting a Detroit Tiger!) Phillips, and his wife, Lisa, are Wildwood residents. He said he had been working to clinch a franchise with Firehouse Subs for about five years. He hopes to spread more around the area. While visiting the Smoky Mountains, we ate at a Firehouse Subs Restaurant and it was great! Loved the Firehouse decor and menu choices and glad to hear they are sponsors of a very worthwhile foundation! Can't wait to visit our local one!   more ›
