Brush Fire Near Hwy. OO Blocks Route Between Wildwood, Pacific

Firefighters from multiple departments are on the scene; OO is closed in both directions. Officials said the blaze was under control.

Highway OO between Wildwood and Pacific is blocked while firefighters from multiple districts work to attack a brush fire that's broken out near Missouri Route 100. Firefighters mixed a foam fire retardant on Highway OO and transported it to the location of the fire. Authorities are warning residents and drivers to stay clear of the area. Scott Mullins, fire marshal/deputy chief for the Eureka Fire Protection District, told Patch shortly before 4:30 p.m. that firefighters had been on the scene about 90 minutes, and at this point have the fire under control, but warned that there would be a longer period to deal with lingering effects within the area.
