Well, a deal has been struck to temporarily move the Eureka Hills Branch Library into that vacant, but larger, building until a new, permanent library can be built in future years. Eureka Mayor Kevin Coffey told Town Hall attendees Wednesday evening that the former video store building would be leased for five years. The video store building is one mile west of the library's current location. The building, at 156 Eureka Towne Center, is 6,500 square feet and nearly twice the size of the current location, said Carolyn Parmer, head of the new library's grassroots effort referenced as The Eureka…

We are also excited to have a quick solution to the space needs of the Eureka library by the move to a building with nearly twice the space. The permanent building is projected to be about 18,000 square feet, three times the size of the new location! New Eureka Library Is Subject Of Meeting

Anyone interested in furthering plans for a new library in Eureka can attend a meeting this afternoon at the Holiday Inn-Six Flags in Eureka at 4 p.m.

Editor's Note at 3:03 p.m.:  The following meeting was canceled after one of the branches of the St. Louis County Library was flooded due to today's storm. Friends of The Eureka (Library) Project and St. Louis County Library representatives will meet this afternoon at 4 p.m. at the Holiday Inn-Six Flags in Eureka, 4901 Allenton Rd. The meeting will be held in the Missouri Room. The gathering also will host this month's board meeting of the St. Louis County Library. The storms yesterday knocked out power and forced the closing of headquarters and other branches of the St. Louis County Library. The Board then decided to cancel the meeting. We hope for it to be scheduled in the near future, as it is an opportunity for all in Eureka to learn more about the library and its future. We'll be passing any information on through Patch.   more ›

Holiday Crafts Made at Eureka Hills Library

Kids can find more than books at the local library.

More than a dozen children gathered around tables at the Eureka Hills St. Louis County Library in the Hilltop Village Center Saturday morning to construct holiday crafts. Sarah Steele, Eureka library assistant, led youngsters and their mothers and grandmothers through building snow globes from empty baby food jars and sleighs from pop sickle sticks.  This event targeted children between the ages of 5 to 11 years. All attendees were able to take home their crafts.  The next events scheduled for young readers at the Eureka Hills library are story times on Dec. 9 at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.  Santa Claus will be the special guest that day, and guardians are encouraged to bring cameras to get photos with him.  A second story time day will be …
