4-Year-Old Eureka Passenger Hurt in Sunday's Snow Storm

A young girl from Eureka was taken to the hospital after the sports utility vehicle she was in Sunday left the roadway.

During Sunday morning's snow storm, Joshua Curtis, 35, of Eureka, was driving his 1999 Chevrolet Suburban southbound on Highway W in Jefferson County. Joushua's sports utility vehicle (SUV) left the roadway, south of Patty Drive, at 9:20 a.m. He told Missouri State Highway Patrol officers he was attempting to avoid another vehicle in front of his truck. Kristen Curtis, a 4-year-old passenger in the truck, was taken to St. Clare Health Center by a Big River Ambulance crew. Joshua was not injured, according to the accident report. Both Curtis' had seat belts on. His SUV received moderate damage.

Eureka Woman Ejected in Accident After Striking Rock

A local woman was thrown from her car during Sunday's snow-shower weather.

After 48-year-old Ruth Luedde, a Eureka resident, failed to negotiate a curve to the left on Twin River Road Sunday afternoon, her 1999 Saturn SL2 traveled off the right side of the roadway. The car then struck a rock and overturned. Luedde, who has not wearing a seat belt, was ejected. The accident happened at 1:09 p.m., just east of River Bend Drive in Jefferson County. Luedde had been traveling eastbound. She was taken by a North Jefferson County Ambulance crew to St. Anthony's Medical Center for injuries sustained in the accident. Her car received extensive damage, and was towed from the scene. No other motorists or passengers were involved in the accident.

Eureka Driver Injured on I-44, Other Driver Left Scene

A motorist who prompted a Eureka man to slow down on the southbound ramp of Interstate 270 to westbound Interstate 44 then left the scene of the accident.

A 22-year-old Eureka resident, Ryan Hinterleitner, was southbound on the Interstate 270 ramp heading toward westbound Interstate 44 Saturday morning when he told authorities he slowed down due to the vehicle ahead of him stopping. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol accident report, Hinterleitner's 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe then began to slide on the wet roadway. Hinterleitner's sports utility vehicle (SUV) slid into the rear of the vehicle in front of him at 8:24 a.m. Saturday. The unknown driver of the other vehicle quickly left the scene of the accident. Hinterleitner was taken to St. Clare Health Center by a Fenton Fire Protection District emergency crew for what what was deemed minor injuries. The SUV received extensive damage…

Eureka Driver Overturns on Twin River Road

A late afternoon accident on Saturday sent a Eureka male to the hospital for fairly serious injuries.

Eureka resident James Russo, 61, was driving his 2010 Infiniti EX35 on Missouri Route W when he left the roadway off the left side, about 0.3 mile south of Twin River Road, at approximately 4:25 p.m. Saturday. Russo's car was southbound on Route W. It struck a tree after veering off the road, and overturned, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report. He was wearing a safety belt, according to authorities, but he received moderate injuries and was taken to St. Anthony's Medical Center by a Eureka Ambulance crew. His car was totaled.

House Springs Man Fatally Injured in Pickup Accident

An 80-year-old man from nearby House Springs died in an early Friday morning pickup truck accident.

Gene Keough, an 80-year-old House Springs man, died at 1:35 a.m. Friday morning when the 2007 Dodge Dakota pickup truck he was driving on South Byrnesville Road traveled off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole. The accident happened at South Byrnesville Road, south of Indian Valley Road in Jefferson County, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol report. He was wearing a safety belt, stated authorities, but the truck was totaled. Keough was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene of the accident, and his body was taken to the St. Louis County Morgue by Schaeffers Mortuary.

Crash at Route W Injures Two

Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper handles accident that sent adult male and 11-year-old girl, both from Eureka, to the hospital.

A Eureka man and girl were taken by Eureka ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur Friday morning when the driver of a 2001 Dodge Dakota truck crossed over the center line during a right-hand curve on Route W near Lafarge Drive and struck their 2002 Ford Explorer truck. Carlos Chavez, 32, was driving with 11-year-old Amanda Pyle as a passenger when the accident occurred at 8:10 a.m. in Jefferson County. The driver of the Dodge truck, Scott Bertholf, is 27 years old and a resident of St. Peters, MO. He was heading southbound on Route W while Chavez was heading northbound, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report filed by Cpl. Travis Croft.

Driver Wrecks in Drainage Ditch

A one-car, rollover accident happened late Thursday afternoon in Eureka off of Fifth Street.

A male driver of a Pontiac Vibe sports wagon overturned his vehicle in Eureka at approximately 4:45 p.m. while heading west on Fifth Street. The accident occurred in front of Eureka Self Storage. The driver was checked by Eureka Ambulance emergency crews at the scene of the accident, but only appeared to be shaken up rather than injured, according to authorities. There were no passengers in the vehicle. "We received a call that someone was ejected during the accident, but that wasn't the case," said Bill Fowler, Eureka Police Department patrolman. Firefighters from both Eureka Fire Protection District and Pacific Fire Department were dispatched to the accident scene. Police said the driver is a resident who lives off John McKeever Road, …
