Eureka Driver Injured on I-44, Other Driver Left Scene

A motorist who prompted a Eureka man to slow down on the southbound ramp of Interstate 270 to westbound Interstate 44 then left the scene of the accident.

A 22-year-old Eureka resident, Ryan Hinterleitner, was southbound on the Interstate 270 ramp heading toward westbound Interstate 44 Saturday morning when he told authorities he slowed down due to the vehicle ahead of him stopping. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol accident report, Hinterleitner's 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe then began to slide on the wet roadway. Hinterleitner's sports utility vehicle (SUV) slid into the rear of the vehicle in front of him at 8:24 a.m. Saturday. The unknown driver of the other vehicle quickly left the scene of the accident. Hinterleitner was taken to St. Clare Health Center by a Fenton Fire Protection District emergency crew for what what was deemed minor injuries. The SUV received extensive damage…

Two I-44 Accidents Occur Over Thanksgiving

Several people ended up in area hospitals.

Landon Kemp, a 28-year-old driver from Union was driving a 2002 Lincoln LS when his vehicle struck the rear of a 2002 Buick Rendevous being driven by 59-year-old Patricia Beggs on Interstate 44 at mile marker 247. Beggs and her passenger, Luther Woodham, 53, are from Waynesville, MO. The accident occurred at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Missouri State Highway Patrol reports indicate all three people were wearing safety belts, but all were taken to Mercy Hospital in Washington by a Meramec Ambulance crew for injuries that ranged from minor to serious. Both vehicles were towed from the accident scene. Another accident occurred on westbound I-44 at 3:24 a.m. Sunday at mile marker 278. A 1995 Buick Lesabre driven by 42-year-old Christopher Lindley …

Local Mustang Driver Crashes in St. Charles

A local man went to the hospital this morning, after encountering slick conditions.

Jason Gebhart, a 30-year-old driver from Pacific, was traveling eastbound on Missouri Route 94 in St. Charles at 5 a.m. Tuesday when authorities state his 2000 Ford Mustang was going too fast for roadway conditions. He was west of Berg Crossing Drive when his car left the roadway and struck a guardrail. Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper W. J. Luzenko said Gebhart's car returned to the roadway, spun and went back off the road into a ditch. Gebhart was wearing a seat belt, but was taken to Mercy Hospital in Washington by a St. Charles County Ambulance crew for what were deemed minor injuries.

Local Teenage Passenger Taken to Hospital Post-Accident

A House Springs teenager was riding in a car that struck a rock bluff Sunday.

Kordell Geiler, a 14-year-old from House Springs, was a passenger on Sunday at 3:25 p.m. in a 1993 Honda Accord being driven by 20-year-old Kellie Davidson, a Hazelwood resident. Davidson was westbound on Route 30 and lost control of the Accord, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report. The car left the roadway and struck a stop sign and a rock bluff at Scenic View Lane. Davidson was wearing a seat belt, per the report. Both Geiler and Davidson were taken to St. Anthony's Medical Center by a Big River Ambulance crew. Her car sustained extensive damage, and was towed from the accident scene in Jefferson County. No other cars or drivers were involved, according to the report.

Eureka and Cedar Hill Drivers Hit During Turn

A young driver from Eureka collided with a driver from Cedar Hill on Friday afternoon in Jefferson County.

Eureka resident Camilla McAlister, 18 years old, was driving a 1996 Toyota Camry Friday afternoon, when she made a left turn onto Route B, south of Ridge Road in Jefferson County. According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, McAlister turned into the path of a car being driven by 59-year-old Daniel Hyde, a Cedar Hill resident.  Hyde was heading southbound on Route B, along with a passenger, Celena Hyde, 60 years old. He was driving a 2002 Kia Spectra.  The front of the Spectra struck the left front of the Camry. The accident occurred at 2:30 p.m. Both vehicles were totaled. All three people were taken to St. Clare Medical Center for minor to moderate injuries. They were wearing seat belts, according to authorities.
