Chevys Shuts Down; Mexican Meals Abound in Eureka, Wildwood

The Fresh Mex restaurant closed its Ellisville location this week. But for Mexican food enthusiasts, the nearby area has several Mexican options, including one restaurant that just opened last week.

Chevys Fresh Mex said "adios" to Ellisville patrons. The Chevys location, in the Dierbergs shopping plaza at Clarkson and Clayton Roads, closed its doors to operations this week, and appears to have all items marked for an auction. Thanks to Eureka-Wildwood Patch reader Mikel Garrett for cluing Patch in on the unfortunate business closing. For those still looking for a Chevys' fix, locations remain in Olivette; St. Louis Mills; O'Fallon, MO; South County and O'Fallon, IL. The St. Charles Chevys location also is closing by the end of September. However, Eureka and Wildwood diners have several Mexican food options in their backyards. Just last week, the new Los Cabos Mexican Family Food restaurant opened in Eureka. Not that many months ago, …

PHOTO GALLERY: An independent Mexican restaurant provides great ambiance and authentic cooking from Mexico-inspired recipes, including a secret margarita mix.

Step into Mexico, right here in Wildwood. Chimi's Fresh Mex restaurant is newly open and waiting for diners eager to take a food-induced mini-vacation. With authentic Mexican cuisine, vibrantly colored walls and intricate paintings, secret-recipe margaritas and Spanish music in the background, it's quite a treat. The cantina is located at 17209 New College Ave., in the business district complex near Wildwood YMCA and St. Louis Community College-Wildwood. Cimis service is terrible. After ordering appetizers and entrees my wife and I asked that they not be brought out together as the restaurant was proned to do in the past. They then brought out everything together and when we asked to speak to the manager he told us that was the way the restaurant operated and that he didn't want to listen to our complaint and should just leave. How utterably rude…   more ›
