The story of Black History Month begins in Chicago during the late summer of 1915, according to the Association for the Study of African American Life and History. Following is a series of local events at which one can observe the annual observation. Date: Feb. 14 Return Ticket: Accra-New York-Accra - Chronicles of an African Son Time: 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Location: Multipurpose Room on campus Description: Kwabena Tandoh will share the story of how he came to the United States and why he plans to return to Africa to contribute to the development of the continent. Tandoh will share information on the history of Africa and his home country of Ghana. In observation of Black History Month, a special presentation will be available at the Eureka Hills Branch Library on Feb. 13.
African Dance will be presented at Eureka Hills Branch Library at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 13 for Black History Month. Tiffany Scott and the African American Ensemble will take attendees on a journey through the rich history and traditions of the people of Africa. The audience will experience live drummers and traditional African garments in this program. This event is relevant to all ages.
