This morning, MoDOT’s St. Louis District Engineer Ed Hassinger announced two major construction projects are near completion: I-64 double deck (Poplar Street Bridge) rehabilitation and I-44 at Antire pavement replacement.
On Interstate 44 near Eureka, Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) crews are wrapping up major work on a pavement replacement project from Lewis Road to Antire Road. During this year’s construction, MoDOT teams rebuilt the pavement so motorists have a smoother commute, said MoDOT’s St. Louis District Engineer Ed Hassinger. Guard cable is an added safety feature to this section of I-44 to help prevent crossover crashes, he said. "To complete this project, crews will perform striping work early next year, weather/temperature permitting," said Hassinger. There will be periodic lane closures at the construction zone during non-peak travel times.

A driver was injured in a commercial truck/Jeep accident Thursday while heading westbound on Interstate 44, west of Antire Road near Eureka. Plus, transportation managers now say I-44 Antire Road project will not be complete until next month.
A Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) spokesperson stated Thursday that crews were working hard to get all eastbound and westbound lanes near Eureka from Lewis Road to Antire Road reopened by early- to mid-October, weather-permitting. The westbound exit and entrance ramp at Antire Road also is expected to open next month. The lanes originally were expected to reopen in mid-September, but MoDOT faced unexpected utility delays during the project. There also are additional pavement repairs that need to be finished before the eastbound and westbound lanes can reopen. Ironically, Thursday also brought another accident within the construction area, during which a driver of commercial trailer truck attempted to change lanes on I-44 and …

Monday’s focus by Highway Patrol officers netted 33 speeders as well as tailgaters and other violations along Interstate 44 between Eureka and Fenton
Despite warning signs posted for miles, rumble strips, hundreds of traffic cones, concrete barriers, crash barrels and the constant presence of heavy equipment, getting drivers to slow down for the construction on Interstate 44 at Antire Road etween Fenton and near Eureka remains a stubborn problem. During an eight-hour focus on traffic safety on Monday, eight Missouri Highway Patrol troopers stopped more than 100 vehicles, issuing more than 70 warnings and 66 summonses, according to Troop C Captain Ronald Johnson. Half the summonses were for speeding, Johnson said. Six were for following too closely, while other drivers were cited for an assortment of violations. Only two of the violations were given to drivers of commercial vehicles, and…

Delays and long lines of traffic already are occurring on Interstate 44 at the Eureka Antire Road construction zone of the U.S. highway. What alternate routes can anyone suggest?
Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) crews, along with contractor, Millstone Bangert, this week started the major impact of construction with one eastbound lane closed on Interstate 44 from Lewis Road in Eureka to Missouri Route 141. One eastbound lane will be closed around-the-clock until mid-September as part of a pavement replacement project on I-44 at Antire Road near Eureka. Bridget Coluccio, sadly, that hasn't been my experience. Only a small percentage of big truck drivers drive professionally. The rest think they can intimidate the smaller vehicles by tailgating them to get them out of their way. The vast majority drive above the posted speed limits unless there's a cop nearby. It's time they ALL started driving and acting more professionally and quit driving like…   more ›
