The Republican from St. Louis County represents Missouri's new Second Congressional District.
Ballwin native Ann Wagner took the oath of office in the U.S. House of Representatives Thursday, as the 113th session of Congress was seated. Wagner, the new representative for Missouri's Second District, succeeds Representative Todd Akin from Wildwood, and along with William "Lacy" Clay in the First District, absorbs the former Third District represented until Thursday by Russ Carnahan. Wagner, the former co-chair of the Republican National Committee and an Ambassador to Luxembourg, defeated Democrat Glenn Koenen in November. Wagner will serve on the House Committee on Financial Services, and was also elected to serve as a member of the GOP Leadership by her fellow Republican freshmen. Soon after being sworn in, Wagner voted to elect John…

In a recent email to Washington, DC, lobbyists, a fundraising worker for the campaign left out the fact that the Wagner has a little GOP competition in the race for the 2nd District seat for Congress.
According to her primary opponent, Randy Jotte, it seems Ann Wagner's campaign forgot she has an opponent in the primary—an oversight the campaign acknowledged, blaming a fundraising worker in Washington, DC. Jotte, of Webster Groves, forwarded Patch a Feb. 8 email from one of Wagner's campaign team members regarding Wagner's upcoming visit to Washington, D.C. The email reads in part: I wanted to see if you are available to help Ann Wagner out on her next trip to DC – we have a few events as well as 1-1 coffee times available. Her primary opponent got out of the race last month and along with her excellent fundraising numbers from last quarter has put Ann in a great spot to win this seat for MO-02. She has over $1 million cash on hand and …

The former U.S. Attorney General and Missouri politician said he's endorsing Ann Wagner for Congress. Wildwood is included in the 2nd Congressional District.
Former U.S. Attorney General and Missouri office-holder John Ashcroft officially endorsed Ann Wagner for the 2nd Congressional District, Wagner's campaign announced Monday morning. She is a Ballwin resident. The endorsement by Ashcroft, who served as Missouri’s state auditor, attorney general, governor and U.S. Senator before being appointed to U.S. Attorney General under former President Bush in 2000, highlights Wagner’s traits as a fiscally and socially conservative candidate, including her opposition to gay marriage and abortion. “We need strong conservative leadership in Washington and Ann fits the bill,” Ashcroft said in a written media statement. “She has been an outspoken critic of liberal Democrats and their failed policies for …

Ann Wagner, a Republican candidate for the 2nd Congressional District candidate for Missouri, including Wildwood, had recent writings during her time abroad as a U.S. ambassador made public on Wikileaks, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Previously secret writings by Ann Wagner, the Republican seeking election to Congress in 2012, recently were made public by WikiLeaks, a nonprofit group noted for breaking several controversial news stories. She is a Ballwin resident who seeks to represent Wildwood constituents if elected, as reported in Eureka-Wildwood Patch. Portions of Wagner's writing were featured in a recent report by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, which highlighted communications Wagner wrote as a U.S. ambassador in Luxembourg. Ann Wagner, who will face Ed Martin in the 2012 Republican primaries for Congress, aims to take over the 2nd District currently held by U.S. Rep. Todd Akin (R-Wildwood). Akin is vacating his House seat to run for U.S. Senate. Although short of …

See why Ann Wagner wants to win the 2nd Congressional District of Missouri seat. She addressed Wild Horse Township Republicans members in Wildwood on Saturday.
Ann Wagner relates starting a U.S. Congress campaign to drinking from a fire hose, but said it's worth it because she wants to set up the 2nd Congressional District of Missouri with strong and effective conservative leadership in Washington, D.C. She declared her candidacy after Congressman Todd Akin's announcement that he is running for U.S. Senate and will not seek another term in the U.S. House. "These are really different and troubling times. We have a lot at stake, especially as we face another presidential race in 15 to 17 months," she said. "We're at a crossroads, and we have to decide who we will be as people, and as a nation." Wagner, a Ballwin resident, addressed members of the Wild Horse Township Republicans on Saturday morning …
