'Hottest Rodeo' Bucks into Eureka This Weekend

Eureka Fire Protection District representatives will present what often is deemed the Hottest Rodeo of the Year Friday and Saturday nights.

The 20th annual Backdraft Rodeo once again will be held at Lions Park in Eureka at 7:30 p.m. this Friday and Saturday.  The first Backdraft Rodeo was held Oct. 13, 1993, and has been a community event ever since, said Scott Barthelmass, Eureka Fire Protection District spokesperson. I hope this year they can control the crowds better. When they had the children chasing the calf, I am surprised no one got injured or worse. Not enough seating either. People were sitting on the ground right by the fences where horses and bulls were running within a couple feet of them. Parents should of had more sense than that.   more ›

Rodeo of the Year at Eureka Friday and Saturday

Two upcoming evenings offer the 19th annual Backdraft Rodeo in Lions Park in Eureka. Funds raised at the rodeo are donated to charities by the Eureka Fire Protection District Firefighters' Association.

Eureka Fire Protection District Firefighters' Association members present what they believe to be the hottest rodeo of the year on Friday and Saturday evenings, starting at 7:30 p.m. It's the 19th annual Backdraft Rodeo. The first Backdraft Rodeo was held Oct. 13, 1993, and has been a community event since. Scott Barthelmass, a spokesperson for the fire district, said the two shows last about 3 hours each.
