The park serves as home certain times of the year to St. Louis Live Steamers' fully-functional, small-scale train.

The city established Kircher Park with buyout money made available to it after the floods of 1993 and 1994. It is the namesake of former two-time Eureka mayor Leon Kircher. He held the post from 1963 to 1967 and 1973 to 1975.
