Vigil Starts Tonight for Weekend Parade Honoring Iraq War Veterans

Names of the fallen to be read in vigil starting at 9:11 p.m.

Tonight, the public is invited to a vigil in downtown St. Louis that will honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice in dedication to defending their country in war in Afghanistan and Iraq since the 9/11 attacks.

The vigil, which will begin at 9:11 p.m. at the Soldier's Memorial at Chestnut and 13th Street, will include the reading of names of all who have fallen. It is expected to last through the evening until Saturday's noon start of the parade welcome home Iraq War Veterans, which will begin on Market Street at Kiener Plaza.

A resource area will be open to the public at the end of the route at Union Station, with the goal of providing information and opportunities for returning veterans.
