'The Old Blogger' Joins Eureka Days Parade

George Weber, the self-professed "Old Blogger" on Eureka-Wildwood Patch made signs and joined the festivities of Saturday's Eureka Days parade.

Thanks to from the whole team at Eureka-Wildwood Patch for participating in this year's parade. George may be close to 90 years old, but he's truly very young at heart. A prime example is his willingness to learn to blog.

At the parade Saturday, George said he learned yet another new thing -- how to take pictures with his cell phone. "There were people taking pictures of me along the parade route, so I started taking pictures back," he said.

During the 1960s when George was president of the , he said he was among the first city leaders who started parades there.

"One difference I noticed this weekend was that there were no horses in the parade, compared to way back when," he said.

George said he thought the parade was well handled and policed, especially when it came to handing candy to parade attendees, rather than throwing it at them.

"We had a nice people day," he said, summarizing the whole experience.

We at Patch appreciate George's way for putting current issues into broader perspectives, his historical knowledge of our community, and his updates about happenings around town—particularly the Forby Road project.

Editor's Note: Today George got a new computer. He reports it's much faster than his older one, which was not acting properly, so he said we should see more blogs again.
