Second Annual 'Funds4Food' Slated for June 23 in Eureka

A fun community event with car show, bands, vendors and motorcycle ride will support one of the area's largest food pantries, which is based in Eureka. Local community leaders promise many activities to enjoy.

Funds4Food organizers will sponsor the second annual community event on June 23 to .

As a free-will offering event, the day will inclue:

  • Motorcycle ride, with estimates of 100 to 200 bikes;
  • Car show of up 200 cars;
  • Doc's Harley-Davidson will provide a stationary motorcycle on a trailer that people (age 16-plus) can get on to feel what it is like to ride a motorcycle;
  • Local vendors;
  • New family fun zone; and
  • Ongoing concerts by local bands.

, , , and the Knights of Columbus are hosting this event to be held on the grounds of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and School, which is located at 500 Meramec Blvd. in Eureka.

The is housed within the Eureka United Methodist Church. The pantry serves 125 to 150 families per month.

"If you came by last year, you know how hot it was. With our event this year in June, we hope for cooler weather. However, last year (our first event) we were still able to raise $5,500 for the Eureka Food Pantry. It is our hope to double that amount this year," said Wes Sir, one of the organizers.

"If you can't make it, but would like to donate to the Food Pantry please do so, they need our help."

Donors will be listed on the event's website. Any checks should be made out to Eureka Food Pantry.

Alright, I've inquired with the Wildwood's planning and public work's director and received someRead More answers. It's not being used by MoDOT nor are there any solid plans to develop it in the near future. His guess was that the property owner is farming it to obtain a lesser property tax assessment.
