Editor's Note at 3:03 p.m.: The following meeting was canceled after one of the branches of the St. Louis County Library was flooded due to today's storm.
Friends of The Eureka (Library) Project and St. Louis County Library representatives will meet this afternoon at 4 p.m. at the in Eureka, 4901 Allenton Rd.
"This is a public meeting and a good opportunity to learn more about the future direction of the Eureka branch," said Carolyn Parmer, chair of The Eureka Project Committee.
The meeting will be held in the Missouri Room.
The gathering also will host this month's board meeting of the St. Louis County Library.
A grassroots effort to establish a new library was initiated by members of The Wednesday Club in Eureka, after they surveyed attendees of the 2010 Eureka Days regarding what residents would most want in the community.
Parmer said the current library location is heavily used by people of all ages, but lacks certain functionality due to limited space. She said the vision is to establish a new location with an expanded children's area, a gathering place for teenagers, and a comprehensive adult collection.
