Joplin Donations Collected By Wildwood College Students

Items to donate to victims of Sunday's tornado can be dropped off to Phi Theta Kappa members, who are holding a drive at the St. Louis Community College-Wildwood.

Phi Theta Kappa members at the are coordinating a drive for items to assist the citizens of Joplin, MO, who were left in disarray after Sunday's tornado. Donation-related tables and bins are located in the main lobby on the campus.

Patricia Aumann, advisor for Phi Theta Kappa, said they will collect the following items through June 7.

  • Flops – NEW (Debbie Zamora, Missouri Region Phi Theta Kappa president, said there are great buys for these at Walmart and Old Navy)
  • Toiletries – NEW (toothpaste, toothbrush, antibacterial soap and hand sanitizer, brushes, hair ties, feminine products)
  • NEW underwear, socks, undershirts
  • NEW or clean, gently used blankets, pillow cases
  • Toys (new or gently used), coloring books
  • Unopened pet food and leashes
  • Baby diapers, wipes, baby food
  • School and office supplies (pens and pencils)
  • Disposable plates, cups, napkins, and silverware  
  • Treats and snacks (peanut butter crackers, snack bars—also needed for diabetics)

Phi Theta Kappa is an international honor society of two-year colleges and educational programs. Members focus on academic leadership and community service.
