Flying Model Aircraft Event to be Hosted June 9-10 in Eureka

VIDEO: St. Louis Radio Control Flying Association members present the sixth annual "fly-in" event this weekend. Enjoy some of the best radio-controlled aerobatic exhibits in the world.

Imagine maneuvering a $30,000 jet-powered model aircraft and doing fly-bys at nearly 200 mph. This weekend in , aviation enthusiasts can see that and more at the 2012 Fly-In event held both Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is only $5 per vehicle.

St. Louis Radio Control Flying Association members are hosting this annual event for the sixth year. The club's facilities are located at 788 Augustine Rd., which is located off Missouri Route 109 south of Interstate 44 in the Meramec River Valley. The club's setup is known as one of the best in the country.

Some of the aircraft that will be displayed has a wingspan of 12 feet.

Radio control pilots from throughout the United States will be in attendance. Demonstration flights occur at the top and end of each hour, and will include model helicopters to zany flying lawnmowers and aicraft that looks like Superman.

Aerobatic 3-D flying will be demonstrated.

Children can get their photos taken in a full-scale F4 Phantom jet cockpit.

Barbecue refreshments will be served.

St. Louis Radio Club Flying Association is a nonprofit organization for serious radio control aeromodelers from the St. Louis metropolitan area. The club has operated for the past 30-plus years.
