Feral Cat Colony in Eureka Continues

For anyone who would like to be good samaritans while helping good samaritans, there's a great place in Eureka at which to donate cat food for a good cause. It would be a nice way to start a new year.

Since the last time Eureka-Wildwood Patch wrote about , the name of the hair salon that employs the women helping the cats has changed, but the same six or seven cats are still in need of assistance. Women who work in Eureka Towne Center at Look After Hair Company, previously called Custom Cuts, continue to provide food for the cats and any donations are welcome.

Editor's Note:  When I recently donated some more cat food bags, the hair salon staffers were extremely appreciative and said that many people donated after the last Patch article.

Jennifer Tinsley and Twyla Kasper said the donated food supply has been gone, however, so all contributions really help them help the cats. If anyone has extra food bowls, those would be helpful as well, as the bowls often get run over or chewed up by lawnmowers.

"People are always asking about the cats," said Tinsley. "We often take the kids who come here out back because they want to see how the cats are doing."

They believe the colony produced a new litter of kittens in the past year.

Cat food donations can be dropped off at 165 Eureka Towne Center Dr. (in the parking lot). The salon is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
