Family Music Festival Will Get Jellystone Park Humming

More than 30 musical acts, camping, art, and an array of family activities are available Sept. 7-9 in Eureka at the 11th annual Tapestry of Community Offerings (TOCO) event held at Jellystone Park.

For the 11th consecutive year, the Tapestry of Community Offerings (TOCO) Family Music Festival offers a super selection of family activities at in Eureka, beginning Friday, Sept. 7, at 3 p.m. and ending Sunday, Sept. 9, at 3 p.m.

For charitable and educational purposes, TOCO assists regional children and families in need through community partnerships. TOCO members take a progressive role in community-based pledges to reduce, reuse, and recycle, for sake of building a diverse and sustainable community. TOCO members indicate they have kept an estimated 160,000 pounds of materials out of landfills since 2010.

Camping options at Jellystone Park range from primitive walk-in campsites to deluxe cottages that house six to eight guests each.

This year’s festival theme is:  "Be a Super Hero.”

Offerings at the event include swimming, art, food, and beverage vendors, plus a themed campsite decorating contest and costume contest. The Collective Arts Project and the TOCO Kids' Club are festival favorites, organizers said.

Kids can choose from several workshops, including lessons in art, karate, tye-dye, music, instrument, music, song making, cape making, mini-golf, mask and hat making, hula hoop with St. Louis Hoop Club, costume parades, and scavenger hunts.

TOCO's direct service programs include the Textile Pantry, which provides free clothing, and house wares for families and children in need; TOCO youth sponsorships in the arts; TOCO youth summer camp sponsorships; TOCO college scholarships for single parents; and TOCO Bear Necessities Family Adoption program during the holidays.

TOCO also supports:  The Make-A-Wish Foundation, Camp Ondessonk, The Violence Prevention Center of Southwestern Illinois, Lydia's House, The Center for Women in Transition, The Foundation of Southwestern Illinois College, Big Brothers & Big Sisters, Lessie Bates Davis Neighborhood Hose, Kingdom House, YMCA of Southwestern Illinois, Helping Hands Food Pantry, Community Interfaith Food Pantry, Guardian Angel Settlement Association, Beacon of Belleville, and the Christian Clothing Ministry.
