After watching a YouTube video clip of the devastating EF-5 tornado that ripped through Joplin, MO, on May 22 and listening to the fear in the voices of Joplin residents, Eureka resident Ashly Moore was inspired to do something to help them.

With the assistance of her husband, Tony, who is a member of the Eureka-Pacific Elks Lodge, they secured the Lodge parking lot as a drop-site location for donations destined for Joplin tornado survivors. Ashly said she began spreading the news through family and friends, and placed a few phone calls to local businesses to help. A-Mrazek donated two trailers. donated water for the volunteers. made T-shirts, and the Elks Lodge and Chipolte Mexican Grill donated food for collection volunteers.

On Saturday, Ashly and nearly 50 volunteers raised $5,200, and filled the first of two trailers.
