Adopt a Rescue Dog at Six Flags St. Louis Saturday

This is the first year Six Flags St. Louis is holding a drive to support Stray Rescue of St. Louis, a no-kill animal shelter that assists pet that have been neglected or abused. Requested pet items can be contributed as well as adoptions.

Stray Rescue of St. Louis is a no-kill, regional animal shelter that assists neglected or abused pets. is hosting a pet adoption and supply drive Saturday, Sept. 8, to benefit Stray Rescue's program.

On Saturday, any Six Flags guest who brings one of the following pet-related items to the front gate will receive a voucher valid for up to four general admissions at $24.99 each, plus tax.

All items donated must be new and unopened.

  • Collars and leashes for large dogs
  • 55-gallon trash bags
  • Six-pack of paper towels
  • Case of bottled water
  • Six cans of adult dog food

Stray Rescue volunteers also will have dogs available for adoption at Six Flags Saturday. Park guests will have the chance to meet and interact with the dogs in front of the Palace Theater. Any guest interested in adopting a dog will be given the opportunity to apply Saturday.

All donations go to the Stray Rescue center, which officially started in 1998 as a non-profit organization and shelter. Stray Rescue records indicate since 1991 they have saved 5,000 feral dogs that went on to be adopted after months of care.

This is the first year that Six Flags St. Louis is holding a drive to support the Stray Rescue initiative. Guests who wish to participate will need to bring one unopened item from the aforementioned list to a tent outside the front gate where they will receive a discount coupon.

Six Flags St. Louis recently launched the sale of 2013 season passes. Guests can buy a day and get the rest of this year and next year free with the purchase of four or more season passes. The price of a four-pack of season passes is $49.99 (plus tax) each. When the passes are purchased and processed by Oct. 28, guests will get a free season parking pass for each pass and a free upgrade to the new “Gold Season Pass,” which includes exclusive events and additional bring-a-friend tickets.

It's not being used by MoDOT nor are there any solid plans to develop it in the near future. His guess was that the property owner is farming it to obtain a lesser property tax assessment.
