Session 2013 – Capitol Report X

Last week marked the halfway point in this legtislative session, and the House and Senate are cooperating on many important proposals. Read more to learn how we are moving Missouri forward.

As spring began to drift timidly, but with determination, into the Heartland this week, we busily and steadfastly approached the traditional halfway point of Session and the official Spring Break for the State Legislature.  Amid the anxious fervor to complete as many priority tasks as possible before the impending milestone, there was also a heightened awareness that a new dawn has emerged in the Capitol – for the first time as far as I can remember, we have both
chambers, the Senate and the House, operating with a renewed sense of cooperation, trust, and vision. Our agenda has therefore taken great strides forward and I am hopeful that this session is shaping up to be one of great legacy for the ages.

In this week’s Capitol Report, I highlight several proposals that have received final approval from the House and moved on to the Senate for their consideration.  Having reached the proverbial “half-way” point in the legislative session, such progress is a great milestone and is serving as a precursor to what I expect will be a wholly successful legislative session.  We are moving Missouri

Reforming Labor Laws to Increase Transparency & Add Taxpayer Value

The House and Senate both took a great step forward this week by adding protections to employees in union shops and increasing the “bang for the buck” our taxpayers receive on publicly funded construction and maintenance.  Click here to read more.
