As part of its continuing network investment to support growing demand for advanced mobile devices and applications, AT&T today announced the activation of 14 new mobile Internet cell sites in Northeast Missouri that will enhance coverage for area residents and businesses in the communities of Elsberry, Winfield, Old Monroe, Bowling Green, Louisiana, Eolia, Clarksville, Vandalia, Monroe City, Mark Twain Landing, Perry, New London and Palmyra.
With mobile Internet speeds, AT&T customers can surf the Web, download
files faster, and enjoy the very latest interactive mobile applications.
“In expanding mobile Internet coverage, AT&T has made a significant economic investment in Northeast Missouri for which we are very appreciative,” said Missouri House Speaker-Elect Tim Jones. “Announcements such as this are made possible by the type of pro-business, pro-investment environment created through the efforts of Representatives Jay Houghton and Lindell Shumake and their colleagues in the Legislature.”
“As policymakers in Washington, D.C. work to solve important policy challenges such as how to encourage continued investment in wireless Internet and how to make available more wireless spectrum, they would be wise to follow the lead of the Missouri Legislature,” said Jones.
The new cell sites are one part of AT&T’s ongoing efforts to drive investment and innovation to deliver the nation’s best, most advanced mobile Internet experience for customers. AT&T has the nation’s largest 4G network which provides accelerated mobile data speeds and simultaneous voice and data capabilities.
“Our customers demand the best, most advanced mobile Internet experience. To meet their demands, AT&T has made an ongoing commitment to investment and innovation in Missouri,” said John Sondag, AT&T’s Missouri President. “Missouri lawmakers, led by Speaker-Elect Jones, continue to do a great job of making Missouri a great place to invest. Today’s announcements highlight the fact that, aided by the great work of the legislature, Missouri has become an excellent investment story for AT&T.”
AT&T invested more than $2.3 billion in its wireless and wireless networks in Missouri from 2008 through 2011.
“Our goal is for our customers to have an extraordinary experience. As part of the community, we’re always looking for new opportunities to provide enhanced coverage and our investment in the local wireless network is just one way we’re accomplishing that goal,” said Nancy Garvey, AT&T’s Vice President and General Manager for the Greater Midwest Region.
