Poetry, Howl-o-ween Wolf Howls

The Endangered Wolf Center in Eureka has four specialty howls scheduled this month:

Red Wolf Howl, Oct. 12

This campfire howl on Friday, Oct. 12, is themed around red wolves. The Red Wolf Howl will offer insights into this critically endangered species of wolf. Four of them – two males and two females – live at the Endangered Wolf Center.

The howl starts at 7 p.m. and costs $15 for adults and $12 for children ages 4 to 14.

Fall Poetry Howl, Oct. 19

Robert Wrigley, keen observer of the natural world and one of his generation’s most accomplished poets, will spend an evening on Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Endangered Wolf Center.

Wrigley will be reading his poems, with a wine and cheese reception and book signing to follow.

The 7:30 p.m. event is part of the Endangered Wolf Center’s Speaker Series.

The cost is $25 per person. Space is limited so please call 636-938-5900 now to make your reservation.

Travis Mossotti, poet-in-residence at the Endangered Wolf Center, also will read poems and introduce Wrigley.

Howl-o-ween Party, Oct. 25

Everyone is encouraged to dress in their Halloween costumes for this family friendly campfire howl.  This all-ages event will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25.

There will be prizes for the best costumes, and candy for all.

The event also features the usual campfire and short hike down Howl Road, where guests will get a chance to howl with the wolves.

The price is $15 for adults and $12 for children ages 4 to 14. Reservations are required and easily made by calling 636-938-5900.

Wine & Cheese Howl-o-ween Party, Oct. 26

Adults age 21 and over are encouraged to show off their Halloween costumes at this Wine & Cheese Wolf Howl.

There will be prizes for the best costumes, and candy for all.

After the wine and cheese reception and educational program, guests will walk down Howl Road and get a chance to howl with the wolves.
