Wildwood's Three-Time Missouri Amateur Golf Champion is Defeated

Wildwood resident Skip Berkmeyer sought his fourth title in the last five years.

The 2012 Missouri Amateur golf championship on Sunday pitted resident Skip Berkmeyer against a Midwestern Missouri golfer, Nick Wilson, at the Dalhousie Golf Club in Cape Girardeau, MO.

"Dalhousie Golf Club is as good as it gets in Missouri and (I am) lucky to be playing," Tweeted Berkmeyer prior to the match.

However, Wilson of Columbia, MO, defeated Berkmeyer, 2-and-1, as reported by Amateur Golf.com. Wilson finished the first 18 holes 1-up. The final 18 see-sawed, according to the online post, with Berkmeyer winning two consecutive holes to even the match before Wilson won the 33rd and 34th holes. A halve on the 35th finished the match.
